STRUCTURAL DESIGN FOR A LOW-RISE BUILDING PESHAWAR MODEL SCHOOL BUILDING
Abstract
This project depicts the architectural engineering design of a Low-Rise Peshawar Model School Building (PMSB), which was divided into five components and solved and created. The major civil engineering component focuses on technical solution, drawings such as plan views, sections, façade views and details. The structural section includes preliminary design calculations and discusses the structural behavior of the building’s load-bearing parts. The subsoil interaction with the building is described in the foundation section. The drainage, water, and heat supply, as well as the ventilation system, are all part of the building services section. The area of the school building is located in the city district of Peshawar, KPK Pakistan. Designed building is a part of a school complex “Peshawar Model School” – building M. The school building contains 5 floors. The area of ground floor is 156ft x 64ft. The upper floors from 2 to 5 occupy an area of 156ft x 64ft. The 5th floor recedes to the middle of the floor plan and has dimensions of 156ft x 64ft. Total building height is 56ft. The building is not located in a seismically active area, inundation (flood) area or in the area affected by slope movement. The overall purpose of this project was to have a complete grasp of the design and construction of structural systems. This was done by looking at the four stages of a structural project: schematic design, design development, construction documentation, and construction administration. After getting a solid understanding of these four phases, the knowledge was applied to the design of a building in Peshawar, Pakistan. All necessary codes were followed when designing this system.
